The Most Teeth Staining Foods & Drinks

Post by: Gerarda on 04 Jan 2021

Certain foods and drinks can cause staining on the teeth, leading to discoloration and an unattractive appearance. Some of the most common culprits are:

Coffee and tea – Both contain tannins, which can cause yellowish or brownish stains on the teeth.

Red wine – The dark pigments in red wine can leave red or purple stains on the teeth.

Berries – Berries such as blueberries, blackberries, and cranberries can also leave dark stains on the teeth.

Colas and other dark-colored drinks – The dark pigments in these drinks can also leave stains on the teeth.

Sauces and spices – Dark sauces like soy sauce, tomato sauce, and balsamic vinegar can stain the teeth, as can spices like turmeric.

Candy and sweets – Sugary snacks and candies can promote the growth of bacteria in the mouth, leading to tooth decay and staining.

It’s important to brush your teeth regularly and visit your dentist for regular cleanings to help keep your teeth white and healthy. If you’re concerned about teeth staining, you can also limit your consumption of these foods and drinks or drink them through a straw to minimize their contact with your teeth.

Remember to book a dental appointment for a dental check-up / dental examination and teeth cleaning regularly.
